As many will be aware, ongoing revisions to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are reaching their conclusion. The latest guidance provided by the International Organization for Standardization anticipates that these standards will emerge from the FDIS review stage in the coming months.
Exemplar Global has structured processes in place to update our requirements related to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, both in terms of personnel certification for professionals as well as the recognition of updated courses from our extensive training provider network. The infographic seen at the right gives you an overview of these processes. You can click on the image of the infographic for the full-size image.
If you are an individual who is already Exemplar Global certified to one of our several auditor grades for ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001, here are the key points to keep in mind about this transition process:
- We move on fact, not rumor. The updates of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are indeed moving toward their conclusion, but they are not yet finalized and no changes to the requirements for our personnel certification will be implemented until they are.
- You have time. Up to three years is permissible for auditors to update their certification to the new versions of the standards, and the clock does not begin to tick until the standards are finalized.
- But why wait? With the above point in mind, the other consideration is that updating your certification to the most current version of the standard or standards could give you a leg up on job opportunities vs. those who are certified against older versions. Moving forward as soon as possible makes sense for many auditors in the field.
The best way to remain updated on the evolving status of these processes is via the Exemplar Global Community. Click here to join if you have not done so already. It takes only minutes and will help you connect with colleagues who regularly discuss topics around not only standards and revision updates, but strategic issues like risk, AI, career pathways, and much more.
