Why are good auditors hard to find? Regardless of the industry, the auditor pool is not meeting the audit demand. Perhaps auditing as a career isn’t as sexy it sounds or perhaps the requirements to become an auditor are overreaching, but we believe there is an abundance of untapped talent that can fill this void.
The question is: How do we attract, train, and retain competent auditors? This session will outline a couple of approaches the food industry is taking to fill the auditor void. During this session, Skip Greenaway with EAGLE Certification Group and LeAnn Chuboff with SQFI, will share the challenges they face with the current auditor situation and the benefits to auditing as a career. They will also provide an overview of two approaches they are taking in attracting new talent and introduce a new IAAR Apprenticeship Program recently approved by the US Department of Labor (DoL) and the creation of a new job code specific to our industry called “Management System Auditor.”
