Organizations typically integrate quality management systems (QMS, ISO 9001), environmental management systems (EMS, ISO 14001) and occupational health and safety management systems (OHSAS 18001). There are other relevant management systems—such as energy and information security—that could also be integrated. High-level structure Annex SL established for management systems standards provides useful framework for this integration. There are several benefits to having an integrated management system (IMS). In the long term, an IMS helps improve efficiency by removing redundancies of different management systems.
Above all, organizations can benefit from having the ability to understand how actions of its business process owners effect all management systems—opening minds to think more broadly about the lifecycle of products and services.
This presentation will be presented by Govind Ramu, senior director of global quality management systems at SunPower.
