Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Director of Quality Products and Services, Scott Gray, has been awarded the Automotive Division of the American Society for Quality’s (ASQ) Quality Leader of the Year Award, in recognition of his leadership and achievements in automotive quality.
The ASQ Automotive Division presents the award annually to recognize the quality leadership contributions of automotive industry leaders—specifically executives who demonstrate a customer-focused quality philosophy and a defect-prevention oriented vision.
Scott Gray was nominated for his ability to drive transformational change and demonstrate customer focus, in addition to his track record of collaboration and continual improvement.
ASQ Automotive Division Chairman David Butler said Gray was selected for this award for his visionary leadership and transformational change in driving quality improvement on an international level.
Gray’s achievements include the revision of IATF 16949:2016 and the development of the new AIAG-VDA FMEA Handbook. Both efforts required significant collaboration among key players in the global automotive supply chain and took multiple years to complete.
Gray said he is honoured to receive the award.
“Working collaboratively with OEMs and suppliers on quality projects for the industry has been a tremendous experience,” Gray said. “I am proud of the impact these initiatives have, and will have in the future, on the automotive industry. I view quality as a team sport, and it is my opinion that the industry is poised to accelerate progress in product quality and safety with more of these collaborative projects in the coming years. “
