Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Director Erica Sheward recently delivered a video update about the organization and Race to the Top, an initiative that Exemplar Global is involved in that is designed to increase recognition of the vital role of auditors in securing safe food for people everywhere.

As part of the update, Sheward reflected on the success of the GFSI Conference that was held in March in Barcelona, which marked the first face-to-face event that the organization hosted in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She also thanked all attendees for their feedback which will help in planning the organization’s next conference to be held in 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia in the USA.

She remarked that “Race to the Top is continuing at pace”. The major workstreams of the initiative are progressing well including the capability building function, governance and technical equivalence review.

The next phase of Race to the Top will be decided and rolled out following a GFSI Steering Committee meeting to be held in Paris, France in September 2022. Stay tuned to GFSI’s website and social media channels for further details soon.
