Leaders help their teams to understand and appreciate how their organization works as a system. A system that determines the successes (and failures) of the organization; as seen and felt by its stakeholders.

Auditors have an important role to play in planning their independent system audits to determine the potential and actual causes of failure and success.

So, forget about going through the motions to secure or keep certification. Instead, engage managers to develop their understanding and appreciating how their organization works as a system to deliver success.

As to system weaknesses be bold and report the facts but avoid helping colleagues too much with their actions to determine and remove the root causes of failure. Such help may embed system weaknesses.
