Interested parties are being sought to join the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) 135 on Nondestructive testing.
Interested parties from U.S. stakeholder organizations in relevant fields and industries are encouraged to put their name forward.
As the U.S. member body to ISO, ANSI accredits U.S. TAGs to develop and transmit positions on ISO technical activities. The American Society for Nondestructive Testing—an ANSI member and accredited standards developer—serves as the ANSI-accredited administrator of the U.S. TAG to ISO TC 135.
The scope of the work of ISO TC 135 includes standardization covering nondestructive testing as applied generally to constructional materials, components and assemblies. This is by means of a glossary of terms, methods of test and performance specifications for testing equipment and ancillary apparatus. Quality levels and specifications for electrical equipment and apparatus are excluded, as these fall within the range of International Electrotechnical Commission committees.
The U.S. TAG to ISO TC 135 is a participating member of the following active subcommittees (SC) under ISO TC 135:
- SC 2 – Surface methods
- SC 3 – Ultrasonic testing
- SC 4 – Eddy current testing
- SC 5 – Radiographic testing
- SC 6 – Leak testing
- SC 7 – Personnel qualification
- SC 8 – Thermographic testing
- SC 9 – Acoustic emission testing
To express interest in joining the U.S. TAG for ISO TC 135 or for more information, contact U.S. TAG administrator James Bennett at jbennett@asnt.org or the ANSI ISO Team at isot@ansi.org.
