Nominations are now open for American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI) 2017 Leadership and Service Awards.
The awards honor those who have made significant contributions to voluntary consensus standardization and conformity assessment programs and have consistently demonstrated a commitment to their industry, nation, and the enhancement of the global standards system. The awards will be presented in conjunction with World Standards Week 2017.
ANSI President and CEO S. Joe Bhatia said the annual awards program is a long-standing and valuable ANSI tradition.
“We welcome this opportunity each year to recognize the tremendous contributions that individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives make to standards and conformity assessment issues that affect both the economy and our wellbeing,” Bhatia said.
The following Leadership and Service Awards are open for nominations:
- Astin-Polk International Standards Medal
- Chairman’s Award
- Coonley Medal
- Finegan Standards Medal
- Lohse Information Technology Medal

Representatives from industry, government, academia, consumer organizations, and the U.S. voluntary consensus standards and conformity assessment community are eligible to receive an award. However, current officers of the Institute’s Board of Directors are an exception.
Recipients of the awards will be selected by an awards committee comprised of officers of the ANSI Board of Directors.
The cut off for nominations is June 16. Letters of support from members of the standardization community attesting to the nominee’s achievements and appropriateness to receive the award are encouraged.
Winners are expected to be announced by August. The 2017 award recipients will be honored at a banquet and ceremony to be held on October 18 in Washington, D.C. Click here for more information about the ANSI 2017 Leadership and Service Awards.
