The ballot period for the second Draft International Standard of occupational health and safety management systems standard ISO 45001 closed on July 13.
“The second public enquiry draft (DIS) has just been approved,” ISO Technical Program Manager, José Alcorta, confirmed in a LinkedIn post. “The document has received a very high level of endorsement by ISO members and gets one step closer to its publication,” the post continued.
ISO 45001 will consider the requirements of existing standards, including OHSAS 18001, ILO-OSH Guidelines, and other national and international standards. The standard will also incorporate the new High Level Structure common across all new ISO standards. This change will place increased emphasis on the organization’s context, risk management, and the role of top management.
ISO 45001 is expected to be published early next year.
