Standards Australia has launched it’s rebranded NEXTgen program, which aims to future proof the development of Australian Standards by creating a robust succession plan for committee contributors.
Formerly known as Young Leaders, NEXTgen allows participants to experience the national and international standards development processes and understand what being involved on a Technical Committee of Standards Australia is like.
Standards Australia CEO Dr Bronwyn Evans said “it is exciting to see how our investment in the up-skilling of the next generation of contributors since 2012 has already delivered invaluable benefits for both the individuals involved and the Australian community as a whole.
“With so many sectors represented in the 2018 cohort, the insights gained from understanding the standards process will help these future leaders shape their sectors for decades to come,” Evans added.
“The contributors we are currently working with are at the pinnacle of their respective field. There are members of our Technical Committees with decades of experience in their industry and many are internationally renowned for the work they do.
“Having this next wave of contributors getting involved and partnering with a mentor is the best way to ensure they come into the committee process prepared and ready to shape the standards guiding their industry.
“Many participants from previous years now hold senior positions on our Technical Committees, and this year’s cohort are bound to be no exception.”
