Accreditation: A Global Tool to Support Public Policy

As part of the recent World Accreditation Day, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) created a short video to describe what accreditation is and how it benefits the global community.

The video highlights accreditation as a proven tool that supports the delivery of improved regulatory framework and good governance, market-effective procurement, and public confidence. The video also highlights activities supported by accreditation such as testing and certification that are regularly being utilized by government departments across the world.

Held annually, World Accreditation Day is an initiative of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperative (ILAC). Each year, the IAF and ILAC invite the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and other national representatives from around the world to mark the occasion and honor the important role that accreditation plays in the global standards and conformity assessment community.

The theme for 2016 was “Accreditation: A Global Tool to Support Public Policy” and highlighted the various ways in which accreditation is a global tool to support public policy.
